[EVENT] Substantial & Marcus D in LA 7/17 + New Music

Join acclaimed hip hop artists Substantial and Marcus D (Bop Alloy) for a rare live performance in LA. Fans will enjoy an exclusive preview of their upcoming album, 'Masters of the Artistry', and perform live for the first time before its official release.

The duo will be joined by special guest Nitsua, renowned producer, founder of Visioneternal, and fellow Hydeout alum known for his soulful, nu jazz music.

With shared roots in the Hydeout legacy and collaborations with Nujabes, the artists will deliver a set that blends both unreleased material with timeless classics.

VIP Passes include early access and a meet-and-greet with Substantial, Marcus D, and Nitsua. Additional merchandise from the artists will be available on-site as well.

Also check out 'One Prize', the new single from Substantial & Marcus D, together known as Bop Alloy. Marcus D paints a mellow, jazz-infused soundscape of bass, breaks, horns, and keys as Substantial highlights the challenges of lacking focus while chasing success and trends. "There's only one prize you need... and it's only meant for your eyes to see. Lock in!" Their new album ‘Masters of the Artistry’ drops in late Summer 2025.

I had the honor and pleasure of teaming up with legendary composer Grant Kirkhope to reimagine DK Rap on his new LP, Rare Treats: DONKEY KONG 64 Revisited.

“Donkey Kong 64 turns 25 on November 22, and Screen Rant is happy to share a way to celebrate, courtesy of game composer Grant Kirkhope and Materia Collective. On November 22, Kirkhope will release Rare Treats: DONKEY KONG 64 Revisited, a new version of the game’s soundtrack re-arranged and revisited by its original composer. “1580” is a tribute to the late, shortlived Rap and Go-Go station, Flava 1580AM, and the ups and downs of growing up in Prince George's County, MD in the 90s. “P.G. County laid the foundation for the men we’d become and Flava 1580AM added fuel to the flames within us that pushed us to become the best MCs/artists we could be.” says Substantial. T.Lucas added “This song represents some of my fond childhood memories. One of my favorite pastimes was laying on the floor of my parent’s living room between 7 to 9 pm and listening to Flava 1580 on the AM dial.
